Feb 24 (Sat) – Update

Today was what it was.

update-envelope.pngIt was below freezing this morning. It’ll be in the 70s in a few days. The coffee shop was packed by the time the three of us left at 10:30.

.

I got home from coffee, set down on the couch and took a snooze because I’ve found that’s the best way to deal with mild nausea caused by the ole’ neck-eroo. I unsnoozed in time for a light lunch. I wanted to work on the ventilation system but that would have been a Bad Idea.

.

Instead, I sat down at the computer and accomplished a few things, both of them on the web server. First, I wrote, tested, and deployed a small script that periodically checks for new comments in the blog’s comment in-box, reads anything new, and if the comment is full of garbage from a russian spam-bot it gets deleted.

.

The second thing I accomplished (again, on the web server) was to stop the firewall from polluting the system log with entries relating to multi-cast events. I confirmed that the events are being logged elsewhere, then configured the firewall to stop sending the events to syslog. I just finally got sick and tired of seeing them in syslog. Man, syslog is soooo much cleaner now.

.

Kyle didn’t come over today, Kim crafted. With the dog door closed due to the cold temps outside we have to deal with letting them in and out. Mavis WINS THE GORRAM PRIZE for raising the roof five-six times an hour because someone walked down the alley or a squirrel entered our yard.

.

By tomorrow afternoon it’ll be mid-sixties with a light breeze and partial sun. The doggos will want to go the park. So will I. Whether or not that happens depends on what happens. Cheers.
