Jan 24 (Wed) – Diet Update

Here’s how it’s going with my diet changes.

The chocolate-covered cashews each the size of a golf ball are gone. I think I ended up eating at most maybe one third of the bag. I’ll leave it up to you as an exercise to guess where the rest went.

I’m over the pies and ice cream. It’s to the point where I don’t even miss ‘em.

I learned that one cup of instant hot apple cider (powder mix – just add hot water) is 40% added sugar. Seems kinda high. I may have found a replacement, it’s called Stur. So far it seems to check all the boxes.

I tried, and like, a few of the Impossible brand plant-based meat substitute items. The burgers are fine as are the chicken fillets. I have an unopened bag of big chicken tender type deals that you air-fry. Haven’t felt motivated enough to do the work required to check one out.

That’s it. No more cold cuts (which I didn’t eat much of anyway). No more fast food (which was VERY few and far between anyway). An apple a day. No added sugar, so there.

24-01-24-chex-mix.pngThese may become a problem. Only 7% added sugar but are addicting. They have replaced the occasional chocolate-cashew golf ball. Problem is I can’t stop eating them once I start.

    Congratulations on your diet changes. You’re doing a great job of finding substitutes that you like. Be careful with that Chex Mix stuff. Probably quite a few ingredients that you’d be better off without.
