Pictures On The Blog

I read every blog article on two devices with different size screens.

23-10-13-various-devices.jpg I quickly discovered that I don’t like how images are displayed.

On a phone the image “thumbnails” are so large that the end of each line of text disappears off the right side of the screen.

On a workstation, if you click an image it appears in a pop-up window (there’s nothing I can do about this pop-up window business) that’s the actual size of the image. If the image is wider than your screen then both sides of the image are out of view and the image can’t be slid to the left or right (or pinched) to see the stuff you can’t see.

Here’s how I fixed these problems:

Thumbnail is too large - All images in all articles are now 100 pixels wide. On a phone there’s now enough space to the right of every image for all of the text to be seen.

The downside to this is that on, say, a workstation monitor every image appears quite small.

23-10-13-floppy-disk.pngThis is the price I pay for using such simple blogging software. I mean, the entire program can fit comfortably on one of those ancient floppy disks. The entire program. One floppy. With room to spare.

.
Images Are Too Wide - All images will be 1300 pixels wide or less.

These changes should make images easier to interact with. Let me know in the comments how images work (or don’t work) for you. Cheers!
